About Me

My name is Diane Berlinski. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with minors in Art and Writing. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer. So you may be asking why exactly I have a website on Cooking with Ground Poultry. My basic goal is to share my years of experience in healthy eating and cooking, as well as encourage others to achieve the healthiest possible lifestyle.

Cooking has always been an integral part of my existence. Around the age of eight, I started making very simple desserts with the guidance of my Mom, and then eventually moved into cooking the family dinners. I also spent summer vacations with my grandparents who further cultivated my love and passion for both cooking and baking. My grandmother was a traditional Polish cook and never measured a single ingredient and my grandfather was a baker by trade. Over time, I was able to master an array of simple to complex family recipes that were handed down from generation to generation.

When I turned sixteen, I began my first restaurant job. I quickly and naturally went from server to cook. This job carried me through high school and college allowing me to finance, in full, my four year college education. I worked seven days a week for over five years before ever taking a vacation. I continued working as a cook and assistant manager in the restaurant business for several years after college.

Approximately ten years ago, I started to re-evaluate my life. I was no longer in the food service business. I was a senior manager in fashion merchandising at a multi-million dollar retail clothing store. A company I stayed with for fifteen years. During this time, I also become a certified personal trainer. I did this to not only continue with my own pursuit of a healthy lifestyle but to help educate others on developing a beneficial and well-balanced way of life. But I still yearned to contribute something unique and creative to society. So I thought to myself, what am I truly passionate about and what do I do well? Three things came to mind instantly, cooking, writing, and my interest in an overall healthy lifestyle.

This is the reason I developed this website and wrote my cookbook entitled, “Cooking with Ground Poultry”. I wanted to create a collection of recipes that took a main ingredient not commonly used for the theme of a cookbook, with a range of simple to elaborate recipes.

My passion and interest in cooking has changed through the years. Initially my intent was to create new and exciting recipes. Now my focus is more on helping others to eat healthier and have more energy to manage a busy lifestyle. My philosophy now encompasses; making smart food choices which include eating organic food whenever possible, exercising, reducing stress and getting proper rest. Utilizing these few basic rules can help bring all of us closer to living a longer and more satisfying life.

My ultimate goal through this website and cookbook is to help individuals live a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle.
